Premise

The Good News is God's power for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Romans 1:16

Premise

In the Good News God's righteousness is revealed from faith to faith.

Romans 1:17

Premise

As it is written, the righteous shall live by faith.

Romans 1:17

Premise

God's wrath is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people who suppress the truth.

Romans 1:18

Premise

What is known of God is revealed in them, and his invisible power and divinity are clearly seen through creation, so they are without excuse.

Romans 1:19-20

Premise

Though they knew God, they did not glorify or thank him, became vain in reasoning, and exchanged God's glory for images, worshiping the creature rather than the Creator.

God's judgment is according to truth against those who practice such things.

God's goodness, forbearance, and patience lead a person to repentance.

Premise

God will pay back everyone according to their works: eternal life to those who persevere in well-doing, but wrath and anguish to the self-seeking who disobey the truth.

It is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be justified.

The Jew has much advantage because they were entrusted with the revelations of God.

Romans 3:1-2

Paul previously warned both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin, as it is written that no one is righteous, no one seeks God, and all have turned away.

But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the law and the prophets.

God's righteousness is through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all those who believe, for there is no distinction.

Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

The promise to Abraham and his offspring that he should be heir of the world was not through the law but through the righteousness of faith.

Conditional

Circumcision profits if one is a doer of the law, but if one is a transgressor it becomes uncircumcision, and uncircumcision that keeps the law is counted as circumcision.

Romans 2:25-26

Conditional

Even if some were without faith, their lack of faith does not nullify God's faithfulness, for God is true though every man is a liar.

Romans 3:3-4

Conditional

If those who are of the law are heirs, then faith is made void and the promise is made of no effect.

Conclusion

Therefore God gave them up to uncleanness, vile passions, and a reprobate mind.

Romans 1:24-28

Conclusion

Therefore any person who judges others is without excuse, because the one who judges practices the same things.

Romans 2:1

Conclusion

By hardness and an unrepentant heart a person treasures up wrath for the day of wrath and righteous judgment.

Romans 2:5

Conclusion

A true Jew is one inwardly, and true circumcision is of the heart in the spirit, not in the letter, whose praise is from God not men.

Romans 2:28-29

Conclusion

Whatever the law says, it speaks to those under the law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may be brought under God's judgment.

Romans 3:19

By the works of the law no flesh will be justified in God's sight, because through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

Those who believe are justified freely by God's grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Romans 3:24

God demonstrates his righteousness so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Romans 3:26

Boasting is excluded, not by a law of works but by a law of faith.

We maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

Romans 3:28

Faith does not nullify the law; rather, we establish the law.

Romans 3:31

Conclusion

To him who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, while a reward given to one who works is owed, not grace.

Romans 4:4-5

Conclusion

The blessing of righteousness apart from works is pronounced also on the uncircumcised, for faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness while he was in uncircumcision.

Romans 4:9-10

Conclusion

Abraham received circumcision as a seal of the righteousness of faith so that he might be the father of all who believe while uncircumcised, and righteousness might be accounted to them.

Romans 4:11-12

Conclusion

Therefore the promise is of faith so that it may be according to grace and sure to all the offspring, not only those of the law but also those of the faith of Abraham.

Romans 4:16

Conclusion

It was written not for Abraham alone but also for us, to whom righteousness will be accounted who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.
